UK real estate heavyweights assert property portal OnTheMarket.com is making progress

UK property portal OnTheMarket has received praise from a number of large independent estate and letting agents that assert the portal is making progress and is delivering a strong return on their investments through providing quality leads.

Last year Estate Agent Today reported that an 11-branch estate agency left the two-year-old agency OTM to return to Zoopla after 'listening to feedback' and 'recognising that its customers are at the heart of its business' - a claim OTM said it was 'disappointed' by.

To reassure customers that OTM is gaining traction and making headway in the marketplace, the portal has published a number of testimonials from property agencies around the UK.

Tim des Forges says OnTheMarket.com is outperforming competitor Rightmove

Peter Symons, a Senior Partner at Stags Estate Agents, which has 20 offices across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset, said he believed the portal provided his firm with good quality leads and was already providing 25% of its portal leads.

“Considering that OnTheMarket.com is so young, we see its impact and performance as absolutely outstanding! It provides our 20 offices with very good quality leads and we believe it is therefore good value for money. I believe that OnTheMarket.com attracts a high proportion of its visits from strongly committed buyers rather than casual browsers.

“We never expected its lead generation to rival the industry leader in the short term but at this stage - after less than two years - the portal has certainly made its mark. It already provides us with 25% of our portal leads, which we believe shows highly impressive progress.”

Tim des Forges, a Sales Director at JLL in Knightsbridge, said he thought OTM outperformed its competitor.

“In terms of the volume of quality leads, OnTheMarket performs better for us than Rightmove. After less than two years and up against two very well-known portals, we feel OnTheMarket is making very significant inroads."

Simon Hill, Managing Director of Michael Graham, which has 14 offices across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Central Londonsaid OnTheMarket.com delivered value for money.

He said: “The enquiries we receive from OnTheMarket.com tend to be of a very high quality which is key if we are to deliver the best possible service to our vendor clients. It is because of these valuable enquiries - and the comparison with its competitors - that we believe the portal delivers good value for money to our 14 branches.

“The impact of removing our properties from Zoopla has been minimal because the leads we received were often from casual browsers who were not genuine buyers or tenants.”

OnTheMarket's chief executive Ian Springett said the testimonials prove OTM is gaining leverage.

“These statements of endorsement from large and well-known firms are testament to just how far OnTheMarket.com has come, and how it continues to progress and perform for its agents," Springett said.

“As we approach the portal’s second birthday, we look forward to building on our successes and we remain as committed as ever to our long-term strategic objective of building the best portal for agents and consumers alike.”

The big trock is being missed. WHICH the UK consumer group researched and found frrom 2000 solds, only 4 in 10 had resulted in sold from main UK portals.

OTM and Zoopla are Rightmove cloned single directional data schemas. As such inferior to other real estate schemas such as RESOs mls schema and even its prior RETS mls schema.

What the UK agents need is a superior national multidirectional cobroker schema to open the 6 in 10 solds that portals don’t reach.

UK portals are fine. But better is yet to revolutionalise our real estate market.
