A number of industry heavyweights have united to form a new trade body - the UK PropTech Association - which has been established to support businesses and individuals with an interest in the UK PropTech industry.

The members-only organisation aims to promote engagement between technology businesses and the property industry with a goal to represent the interests from both a local and international perspective.

Initial events announced by the UKPA include a trade mission to New York in June and the inaugural UK PropTech Awards, slated for December.

Eddie Holmes, Chairman of the UKPA, said PropTech is experiencing a boom right now.

“The growth of PropTech in the UK has been astounding," Holmes said. "Today’s climate of ever-increasing investment in PropTech businesses is mirrored by a boom in adoption of new technology by property professionals and consumers alike.

“It’s more important today than ever before to make sure that the companies and people driving innovation in PropTech have a body which can help them succeed.

“It’s one of the key goals of the UKPA to bring technology businesses and property businesses closer together. For too long each group has viewed each other with some trepidation. We will work to build bridges between, and create opportunities for, both industries.”

Bolstered by a steering committee that has attracted some of the industry's top influencers including Edwin Bartlett, Juliette Morgan, Dan Hughes and James Dearsley,  the UKPA is looking forward to driving PropTech even further.

“I’ve seen first-hand how important it is to help the property industry work with technology companies during my time working in both sectors," Dearsley said. "I hope to bring this insight to the UKPA steering committee and look forward to seeing PropTech continue to flourish in the UK.”

Membership of the UKPA is open to technology and property companies and individuals working in or interested in PropTech. Full details can be found at www.ukproptech.com.
