Airbnb is gaining more followers in Latin America as an alternative for accommodation and the search for places to spend the holidays and even to reside for a few months. That is why the platform in Chile released data on how the monetary income of the hosts was during the summer.
According to these figures, there were almost 243,000 stays that lasted an average of 5 nights. The most successful destinations among the travelers who vacationed in Chile were Santiago, Viña del Mar, Valparaíso, La Serena and Pucón.
How much money did the Chilean hosts receive with Airbnb?
Airbnb, the platform that connects travelers with people who have a space available to share in their homes and want to generate extra income, reported that during January and February of this year the Chilean hosts received an extra income of CLP $ 646,000 during the summer season .
In other words: The average size of each group of travelers was 3.1 members and the average stay was 5 nights.
Currently the tourism industry represents 10% of the global GDP and according to Airbnb this helps bring its economic benefits to entrepreneurs and communities that previously could not take advantage of them by being away from the traditional tourist circuits.
