Position Summary:
Reporting directly to Corporate Controller, the Tax & Accounting Manager will be responsible for all tax accounting functions, managing/preparing the federal and state/local income tax filings and all other tax related compliance reports, preparing quarterly and annual GAAP and Statutory basis tax accruals and footnotes, assisting with the management of the financial close cycles, and develop and mentor direct reports. This will be a hands-on role, establishing and building Zillow’s internal tax program.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required. Master’s Degree in Tax, preferred.

Position Requirements:

Manager with minimum of 5-7 years’ combined experience in a Big 4 firm, public company, or large private company.

Prior experience working for an internet or media company, a plus.

Solid knowledge of financial reporting tax issues, FIN 48, FAS 109, general issues (i.e., property taxes, sales & use taxes, nexus rules, etc.), R&D tax credits, and US GAAP.

Must be licensed as a CPA

Strong technical experience with tax software systems, a must.

Strong knowledge of tax research software application, a plus.

GP Dynamics knowledge preferred, though recent experience with big ERP (Oracle, SAP, etc.) is acceptable.

Must be energetic, likeable, pro-active, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment.
Advanced Excel skills, a must.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

Responsible for preparation of all tax filings, schedules and footnotes on a timely basis, maintaining an accurate and up-to-date understanding of all tax regulations and requirements (federal, state/local), and respond to inquiries/notices.

Resolve income tax related issues as they related to the accounting general ledger and for income tax related journal entries.

Ensure the accuracy of estimated and extension income tax (and B&O tax) payment calculations and the timely filing of the related returns, vouchers, and electronic funds transfer.

Research authoritative tax literature to determine Zillow's tax policies for both complex and routine transaction.

Assists with the management and review during financial close cycles (monthly, quarterly, annual).

Knowledge of internal controls, SOX documentation and control surrounding financial accounting for income taxes.

Strategic and analytical problem solving skills, successful at managing and meeting project deadlines.

Develop, coach, motivate, and mentor direct reports to meet performance goals.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with key internal and external stakeholders.

Participate in ad hoc projects, including tax disclosures, tax implications of acquisitions/divestitures & due diligence activities, systems implementations and other projects as assigned.
