Property portals around the globe attract visitors to their online sites mostly when they are in the market to buy or rent a home. Loyal real estate website users also search for properties on their smart phones if they are on-the-go, some wonder in via catchy marketing campaigns (i.e.: PrimeLocation branded taxis), and now they have enlisted home renovation experts, designers and/or house selling gurus to advise their users in the art of real estate DIY fixing-up, decorating and easy selling.

In the U.S. Zillow recruited, Bob Vila, one of the country’s most recognisable experts in home improvements, who joined the company back in May as a contributor to the Zillow Blog. Vila was a personal consultation to a winner of the Zillow Summer Home Improvement Sweepstakes. The contest ran on the company’s Facebook page.

India’s MagicBricks.com rolled out a whole new site, Decor.MagicBricks.com, where design experts provide an easy solution to buyers who need home decorating advice.

Now Australia’s Realestate.com.au has recruited LifeStyle Channel’s own property selling guru Andrew Winter, from Selling Houses Australia; they pose the question,“Want to know how to improve your kitchen, bathroom or outdoors?” to its users, and apparently no question is taboo for Winter, via their Facebook page.

Winter has become a trusted voice in real estate mostly because, his award-winning program, Selling Houses Australia, delves into the real issues faced by property owners and provides current and practical advice for Australians looking to sell their home.

Asking a property expert for advice is as attractive to real estate buyers/renters/owners as is, a direct Q&A link to Robert De Niro to someone who is interested in the performing arts, and sometimes individuals like Bob Vila or Andrew Winter wield nearly as much “star power” as a De Niro, if in the right crowd and the above mentioned companies know their crowd.
