Immowelt is loosing all its branded partnerships with publishers in Germany so they are desperately trying to open up new avenues outside their home market. At the same time well-funded media group Axel Springer is aggressively re-positioning Germany’s #2 portal immonet to take on a serious battle against market leader Immobilienscout24. Evidence is Axel Springer’s recent acquisition of meinestadt, currently the most important affiliate of Immobilienscout24 and their equity tie-up with Nothern Germany’s heavyweight media group Madsack in March of this year.
