With today’s bargain-basement mortgage rates, Many US homeowners are leaping at the opportunity to refinance, due to the bargain-basement mortgage rates currently being offered by lending institutions. However, with over 30 percent of homeowners with mortgages underwater, it’s not an option that is currently available to everyone.
The US government has programs that aim to make refinancing possible for thousands of homeowners. Zillow will be participating in a Google+ Hangout hosted by the White House addressing the refinancing topic. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan will address homeowners’ questions about these programs.
Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff will moderate the discussion between Secretary Donovan and several homeowners, and questions from the general public will be accepted as well.
Question about government refinancing programs can be addressed on Zillow’s Facebook page; users are encouraged to click on the special tab at the top of the page. Zillow has promised to pose as many questions as possible to Secretary Donovan during the Hangout. Tune in to the Hangout itself at 3:15 p.m. EDT, Thursday, July 12.
