MoveThatBlock.com has redesigned its website, and its new look and feel is very sleek and straight to the point. Along with the new facelift, the company has also added over 300,000 new items for sale under their Block Sale category.

The Minimalist’s train of thought – less is more – is quickly picking up steam in all markets, and it seems to be the current online trend, which has influenced the real estate realm as well. Property portals such as the new MoveThatBlock, ToTheGo (which we covered in 2011) and Diggsy.com, are shedding the extra peripheral information which clutters their site and lures the user from that which should be the main focus, the search feature.

The redesign of MoveThatBlock allows for easier navigation and searching throughout the site. Its appearance rings familiar, and could have been influenced by Google’s home page, but once inside the site’s categories, the pages look like a close cousin of Facebook.

The portal is a one-stop shop, where visitors can find homes, commercial properties, jobs, apartments for rent, businesses for sale, vacation rentals, cars and even find a relationship, all under one roof, and free of charge. A site with all this going on, has made a wise choice to simplify its appearance, otherwise visitors would simply get lost in the sea of information.

Haileab Samuel, COO said: “When we decided to add more categories to the site, our primary goal was to someday have a user base similar to that of Craigslist. Now that over 300,000 items have been added to our Block Sale category, we feel very confident that we will gain a sizeable share of the online classified market.”

We decided early on to take the minimal approach and focus on speed and usability without having to give up functionality. We have a lot of exciting things in the works for Diggsy.com but we always keep simplicity and speed as a basic premise for everything we do.
