One of Massachusetts’ leading software providers, services and strategies for higher education, Jenzabar®, Inc., announced a partnership with RoomSync, an innovative Facebook app for roommate matching.
According to a Michigan State University-led study, conflict between roommates is a huge contributing factor to college dropout rates, and since more than 96% of college students are registered on Facebook, and 76% access the social site via their mobile, Facebook is an ideal platform for students to use when choosing who to share their living quarters with, while at university.
Due to the partnership, RoomSync is able to work with housing departments at Jenzabar client communities to create a seamless roommate matching solution, integrated with Facebook, which helps decrease roommate issues and complications. Students using the service can browse potential roommates based upon matching factors such as lifestyle preferences, academic majors, Facebook interests, mutual friends, and more. They can also view suggested roommates and search for a one by the interests they have listed on Facebook. Once a compatible roommate is found, they match through RoomSync and the housing department receives a full report on the individuals involved in the match-up.
“Our partnership with RoomSync provides Housing Departments with a convenient solution through the latest technology in roommate matching,” said Robert A. Maginn, Jr., CEO of Jenzabar. “By integrating with a platform that students are already connected to on a daily basis, the powerful roommate selection option will deliver enhanced student services and contribute to an overall better student experience.”
All the features are also available on RoomSync Mobile, which is available for download on Android and in upcoming weeks on iPhone to current RoomSync users. The mobile version allows students to receive instant notifications and access the application anytime and anywhere.
“The essence of RoomSync is empowering residents to make their own roommate decision rather than leaving it up to fate. Roommate compatibility and self-selection have become incredibly important at colleges and universities during the rise of social media,” said Michael Hacker, President of RoomSync. “Our partnership with Jenzabar will bring RoomSync to a greater number of institutions – and most importantly, lead to a greater number of happier and more successful students.”
