The awards were handed out at a ceremony at The Science Museum, with this award being one of the most hotly contested and coming with a prize of £20,000 of advertising with Guardian.
The Guardian Awards for Digital Innovation focus on entrepreneurial activity and recognition of the creativity of the UK’s digital scene and are selected by an impressive panel of judges which includes well-known entrepreneurs, media and technology leaders and journalists. Hundreds of entrants were narrowed down by the judges to three finalists in each category and Zoopla was also shortlisted as one of the finalists in the ‘Best Startup Business’ category.
Zoopla.co.uk has seen exceptional growth since its launch just 4 years ago and has become one of the most-visited UK websites, attracting over 12 million visits per month. Through its exclusive partnerships, Zoopla also powers the property search for hundreds of leading national and local websites, providing its advertisers with exposure to an unrivalled audience of UK home movers.
Alex Chesterman, CEO of Zoopla.co.uk, commented: “I am honoured to have been named as ‘Best Startup Leader’ at this year’s prestigious Guardian Awards for Digital Innovation. Four years into our journey and we are well on our way towards achieving our mission of making Zoopla the most useful online property resource for UK consumers and the most effective online marketing platform for UK property advertisers.”
