Rightmove, one of the UK’s Top Ten Portals, have made a further investment in their mobile platforms with the launch of a brand new Android app, which is intended to extend the reach of Rightmove member agents’ properties by capitalising on the rapid growth in Android phones, which now number over 10m in the UK alone.
Rightmove director Miles Shipside comments: “This latest investment in our range of mobile platforms brings Rightmove onto Android handsets and allows us to build on the success of our M-Site with a full Android app. The app is packed with new features for home-hunters and puts the properties, brands and expertise of Rightmove member advertisers in front of even more home-hunters on the move.”
The Rightmove Android app features an integrated Google Street View function, allowing home-hunters to view each property’s surrounding area from their smartphone. The app is fully synced with a user’s MyRightmove account, meaning properties and searches can be saved and shared between the other Rightmove platforms they are using such as their desktop, iPad and even their Smart TV. Functionality on the Android app is also enhanced thanks to full-screen photos and floorplans and the ability to contact Rightmove agents via email and phone from within the app.
Shipside adds: “Over 700,000 home-movers are using the Rightmove iPhone app every month with a further 835,000 using the M-Site, which serves all other smartphone devices such as Android and Blackberry. With the introduction of our new Android app we expect our app user base to go past 1 million home-movers per month very soon. This represents an incredible proportion of active home-movers around the UK and is a real testament to the investments we have made in mobile.”
The Rightmove Android app can be downloaded for free from Google Play. For further information please visit www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-you/android-application.
