Chinese web portal Sina, an online media company with over 100 million registered users worldwide, catering to the Chinese market (domestically and internationally), has confirmed that in February 2012 it will spin-off its product and real-estate search engine, Yiqisoo.

According to the company, a total 10 million RMB (US$1.58 million) will be invested in Yiqisoo, and coincide with the site focusing on home electronics and personal gadgets, which are termed ‘3C’ items.

Sina owns Sina Weibo, a sort of FacebookTwitter social network hybrid all rolled into one, which has 56.5 percent of the Chinese micro-blogging market based on active users and 86.6 percent based on browsing time over Chinese competitors such as Tencent and Baidu.

SINA was recognized by Southern Weekend as the ‘Chinese Language Media of the Year’ for 2003.
