The August 2011 Nielsen numbers are out and the big winner is Zoopla. Between July and August this year, Zoopla increased traffic (measured as unique users) by 10.6% while FindAProperty increased traffic by an equally impressive 6.6%. Rightmove remained relatively flat losing just 1.2% of its audience, while Primelocation took a major hit, losing 8.8% of its traffic.
However, when you look at the raw underlying numbers, Rightmove continues to be the dominant player it the UK market. Total traffic to the site in August was 3.34m UU’s. This was significantly ahead of second place Zoopla who had 1.95m UU’s in August. FindAProperty was in 3rd place with 1.75m UU’s and Primelocation in 4th place with 0.88m UU’s.
Overall this is an impressive result, especially for Zoopla. Over the last few years they have delivered strong results moving from nowhere to 2nd place in the highly competitive UK market. Their strategy of acquiring sites, consolidating traffic, and strong execution appears to be working well.

Taking the Nielsen figures as they come direct off their report shows DPG total traffic in second position not Zoopla. Given DPG’s portfolio offering surely this is how the stats should be interpreted/displayed in this article? Doing This puts a very different picture of the Market to what is written?
