thebigpropertylist.co.uk has been named the ninth most influential Twitter user in the UK property industry, and the portal has some advice for other portals that want to make their mark via social media.
The list of the top property-related Twitter accounts in the UK was compiled by propertyweek.com, and thebigpropertylist.co.uk was the only portal included in the top 10. The portal has just over 2,500 followers and tweets regularly each day.
"Social media is a trend too big to ignore and the online property community in the UK use Twitter to share news and as a platform for discussion and networking," says thebigpropertylist.co.uk. "We love interacting with people and have found friends as well as partnerships through Twitter."
According to thebigpropertylist.co.uk, Twitter users are not interested in being bombarded by marketing messages. "Some brands use the platform in a cold way to broadcast their messages but this is not how people want to interact," the portal explains.
thebigpropertylist.co.uk was launched in August 2010, displaying listings uploaded to Google Maps in a list format. After the decommissioning of Google Base, the portal had to readjust its plans, and in June this year it was contracted by Nestoria to display listing from the vertical search engine's customers.
