trulia.com is under fire from CIVIX, a Virginia-based company which is suing the real estate website for alleged patent infringements.
In its complaint, published here by inman.com, CIVIX describes itself as being “in the business of developing and licensing location-based search technologies.”
The complaint claims that trulia.com is infringing on two patents, titled “System and Methods for Remotely Accessing a Selected Group of Items of Interest From a Database.”
“CIVIX has granted hundreds of licenses under the ’622 patent and the ’291 patent, resulting in more than $40 million in royalties,” the complaint says. “CIVIX’s licensees include the providers of location-based real estate searching systems and services of the type provided by Trulia through its www.trulia.com website.”
As agentgenius.com explains, CIVIX has previously sued Move, Inc and the National Association of Realtors, both of which settled with the company.
