Top UK property website rightmove.co.uk says it saw a record 58.37 percent of of all web pages viewed in the property industry during March, according to Hitwise statistics.
rightmove.co.uk explains that Hitwise counts 1,325 property industry websites, and its lead means that more pages were viewed on rightmove.co.uk than on all other property websites put together. The portal adds that it also broke previous records for market share of visits, with over six times more than second-placed findaproperty.com.
“Our page view statistics show that when people visit us they are highly engaged in terms of using the site, and our market share of page views amongst the top four property websites has risen again this month to now stand at 83.1 percent,” says rightmove.co.uk director Miles Shipside.
This Hitwise line-up is in contrast to recent data from both comScore and Nielsen, both of which place zoopla.co.uk in second place behind rightmove.co.uk in terms of unique visitor numbers.
Along with these statistics for the online property industry, rightmove.co.uk is also highlighting its position as the ninth most visited website in the UK overall, behind the likes of Google, Facebook and YouTube. “The second highest property-related website for page views was zoopla.co.uk in 110th position – a drop from 98th place in January,” rightmove.co.uk explains.
rightmove.co.uk itself has moved down one place since January, when it was ranked the eighth most popular website in the UK.
All this comes as rightmove.co.uk gears up to release its latest TV ad campaign later this month. The portal says this new campaign will highlight the various ways that the British public use the web and mobile applications to search its listings.

who on earth really pays attention to the number of web pages? i think this is very disingenious of rightmove to bang on using this metric. a high volume of web pages may indicate a clumsy website. good search is about allowing users to get in and out quickly minimisong pages viewed. surely enquiries generated is the name of the game?
Rightmove use to claim 90% of all agents, so 58% in hits could from small to large agents also represent their fall in agent subscribers. So do they now have less than 60% of the agents? It would be interesting to see what TDPG collective of websites do? Is the big portal bun fight finally bringing the biggest down?
Regardless of web pages, 6 times more than it’s nearest competitor and 8th most popular in the UK is impressive. I’m not a fan of their TV advert but overall their marketing is clearly second to none in the property portal market.
Rightmove are nowhere in London. Primelocation and FindaProperty dominate here.
