Welcome to the fourth instalment of our PPW Awards series, where we highlight portals from established, emerging and early-stage markets around the world that have an innovative approach to running a successful property portal.
Each instalment will highlight one overall winner and one honourable mention. Today’s winners come from the emerging market of Latin America.
Overall winner: VivaReal
Who they are: VivaReal operates a series of South American property portals covering Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Colombia as well as a US-based website for the Spanish-speaking population. In total there are now over 1 million people visiting these portals each month. The main focus for the business is the large Brazilian market.
Why we chose them: VivaReal is taking an innovative approach to building its business, particularly in the highly competitive Brazilian market. They are using a combination of traditional sales and marketing approaches along with an innovative educational approach. They have clearly identified the very early stage of the market and the fact that the customer base are still early stage when it comes to using the Internet. By running seminars around the value of online marketing and sourcing international speakers, they are clearly positioning themselves as the thought leader in these markets.
Honourable mention: metroscubicos.com
Who they are: metroscubicos.com is a Mexican real estate website that currently lists just over 50,000 properties for sale and rent. It was first established in 2000.
Why we chose them: Clearly, metroscubicos.com is a property portal with staying power. Since it was first launched, the company has forged partnerships with companies including Century 21 Mexico, Yahoo! Mexico, and RE/MAX. More recently, it has started distributing its listings via social media, and continues to work on convincing Mexican sellers and agents of the value of Internet advertising.
Tune in later this week when we reveal our next set of PPW Award winners.
