realestate.yahoo.com Overtakes Again

The Hitwise list of US real estate websites for November is now online, showing realestate.yahoo.com again taking the top spot from realtor.com.

According to the report, realestate.yahoo.com is on top with a 6.95 percent market share, beating out realtor.com’s 6.28 percent. In October, realtor.com was in first place with a 5.99 percent share of the market, while realestate.yahoo.com followed with 5.87 percent. realestate.yahoo.com made it to the top of the rankings in August and remained there in September.

The rest of the top ten list is almost unchanged, except for mynewplace.com moving up two places from 11 to 9:

Eight out of the 10 websites between 11th and 20th place registered increases. listingbook.com jumped four places from 23rd to 19th, while rentals.com, loopnet.com and century21.com all went up three places.

hotpads.com reported that it had made it into the Hitwise top 20 for the week ending 27 November, however this monthly list shows it has not maintained that spot.

The top five real estate search terms for the month were unchanged from October, with “realtor.com” in first place followed by “zillow”, “apartments for rent”, “realtor” and “remax”.

32.74 percent of all visits to the “’Business and Finance – Real Estate” industry went to the top 10 websites for the month, while 42.37 percent went to the top 20 websites and 70.72 percent went to the top 100 websites.

The average visit duration was 8 minutes, 53 seconds which is a minimal increase from last month’s average visit duration of 8 minutes, 48 seconds.
