Two Silicon Valley executives have just joined the leadership team at US-based holiday rentals portal homeaway.com.

The first is Brent Bellm, who has worked as CEO of PayPal Europe Ltd. and most recently as head of global product at PayPal. Bellm joins homeaway.com as chief operating officer, succeeding COO Andrew Harris, who passed away in early June.

In his new role, Bellm will be responsible for leading the daily operations of homeaway.com’s online vacation rental marketplaces in the United States, Europe and Brazil, as well as its homeawayrealestate.com and bedandbreakfast.com websites.

In addition, homeaway.com has created the new role of chief product officer for Tom Hale. In this role, Hale will be responsible for all aspects of product and technology on a global basis.

homeaway.com explains that Hale has been instrumental in bringing to market many world-class products including Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Connect. His most recent role was CPO at Linden Lab, creator of the virtual world, Second Life.

homeaway.com moved into the Hitwise list top 20 US real estate websites at number 19 in June. The website partnered with Realogy and Keller Williams in June.

techcrunch.com reports that the company is looking towards an IPO some time in 2011.
