lettingweb.com may not have been particularly quick to release its smart phone application, but the UK rentals portal looks set to beat plenty of other players to the iPad.

With just over 7,700 listings on offer, this relatively small portal says it’s keen to take advantage of “the next big thing in the property industry”. Its soon-to-be-released iPad app will allow users to search, make enquiries, view properties on Google Maps, see photo albums, forward listing details, and create shortlists.

“As a technology business we are focused on providing the most innovative and practical solutions for our letting agent customers,” says lettingweb.com marketing manager Richard Matthews. “As many home hunters currently use our iPhone app to search for properties to rent we decided to invest in the technology to make searching for a property even easier and faster with the release of the iPad. This should translate to even higher enquiries for our member firms.”

“If demand continues to outstrip supply and the market gets competitive for the best properties, home hunters with our iPad and iPhone applications will be able to access details of rented properties on location quicker, which gives them an edge over others using more traditional methods,” Matthews adds.

lettingweb.com says it works with the majority of letting agents in Scotland – about 300 member firms – and has recently added Wales and Northern Ireland to its portfolio. The portal was established in 1999, represents nearly 450 agents, and claims to attract over 160,000 visitors per month.

lettingweb.com joins three other portals that have released iPad applications so far: zillow.com and ziprealty.com in the US, and casa.sapo.pt in Portugal.
