Australia’s Commonwealth Bank has teamed up with realestate.com.au and property information and analytics company rpdata.com to release an Augmented Reality (AR) iPhone application for property search.
According to a company statement, the application displays data including past sales history on more than 95 percent of properties in Australia, along with current property listings and recent sales. This data is mapped on to a real-world view through the iPhone’s camera.
Users can also switch to a list or bird’s eye view to pull in insights on properties matching their search criteria. Listings can then be added to favourites and sent to friends, and users will also have access to suburb profiles revealing demographics, median price, property hotspots and capital growth trends.
“As Australia’s biggest home lender we have teamed up with rpdata.com and realestate.com.au, to help Australians make an informed decision when it comes to making their biggest financial commitment,” explained Mark Murray, the Commonwealth Bank’s general manager of consumer marketing.
“The new iPhone application will be an industry first in Australia. Home buyers and sellers can easily access a host of customised information, tools and insights on every home in Australia – for free.”
The Commonwealth Bank says a video demonstrating the new iPhone app will be available next week, and the app will be available for download in the near future. This will be the first Augmented Reality property search application to be released for the Australian market.

This isn’t an industry first. You can already do augmented reality property searches through Layar’s augmented reality brower using LiveSpot Property.

True this is not an industry first as mentioned above but the app from layer doesn’t seem to have the same functionality as what is promised in the Comm Bank video.
That said St George already has an app called housefinder that delivers on all the functionality mentioned in the article above using data from Australian Property monitors.
I have seen this a bit on similar sites…CBA have been saying that they have released it but they haven’t??? and stg george bank have it in market…what the go?
