A recent customer survey by globaledge.co.uk has revealed the property portals agents and developers see as the best at generating quality leads, with Spanish portal kyero.com coming out on top.
kyero.com is a niche portal serving overseas buyers. It was founded in 2003 and voted Best International Property Portal at the 2007 CNBC Awards. kyero.com scored 2.36 out of a possible four points to come top of the list.
Spanish news and information website thinkspain.com was voted the second best lead generating portal. globaledge.co.uk explains the bias towards Spanish portals is a result of the fact that a high percentage of its 211 respondents were selling property in Spain, but adds that the niche emphasis of these portals may also contribute to the quality of their leads.
rightmove.co.uk, which globaledge.co.uk found to be the best optimised portal earlier this year, came in third place in the poll. themovechannel.com came in at number four, followed propertyindex.com.
The Digital Property Group portal primelocation.com was voted sixth most effective in generating quality leads. primelocation.com recently said its traffic had increased by 34 percent between January 2009 and January 2010, and by 25 percent compared to December 2009.
US-based portal homes.point2.com came in seventh place, followed by another TDPG portal: findaproperty.com. findaproperty.com has just renewed its UK-wide marketing deal with McDonald’s.
The last two portals on the top 10 list both have an international focus: propertyshowrooms.com and property-abroad.com.
globaladge.co.uk admits many of those surveyed seem to have a “love-hate relationship” to property portals, saying “no one portal has a dominant hold on the market.”

Definitely does produce more enquiries than any of the other Spanish property portals, however – responses and sales from those enquiries is a completely different story.
And Globaledge is a company that you pay to promote your company on…..so it has a vested interest in spinning out positive news about the portals that advertise and pay Globaledge cash. The sound bites that are received are therefore heavily tainted in the favour of those that pay Globaledge money.
