The Google Earth and Maps team have just announced a new type of mapping imagery available to developers through the Google Maps API: high resolution overhead imagery that shows both the rooftops and sides of buildings at a tilted angle.
When Google made the announcement, it pointed out that both US property search engine trulia.com and US online brokerage redfin.com have integrated this new aerial view into their websites.
trulia.com says it has added the new view below the existing Google Street View on each of its listings:
The imagery is currently only available for San Jose and San Diego, but Google says more cities will be added over the coming months. redfin.com confirms it will be adding more imagery as it becomes available.
