Hitwise: servicemagic.com Bumps rent.com

The September results are in from Hitwise, with hotpads.com entering the top 100 US real estate websites list and home improvement professional website servicemagic.com rising two places in the top 10.

The top four websites remain unchanged from July, and realestate.msn.com held on to its position in 9th place, gained last month.

servicemagic.com pushed rent.com out of its position, coming in at number five after ranking 7th in July and August and 11th in June 2009.

Amongst the top 20 US real estate websites, apartmentguide.com, mynewplace.com, realestate.aol.com, forrent.com, listingbook.com and redfin.com all registered increases in market share. listingbook.com jumped from 25th position in August to 19th place, apartmentguide.com went from 17th to 13th place, and redfin.com moved from 21st to 20th place.

Websites that moved down the top 20 list were homegain.com, which moved from 13th to 16th place, and century21.com, which moved from 14th to 17th place. realtytrac.com, which was ranked 18th in August and held 10th place last November, left the top 20 list.

Portals entering the top 100 list included hotpads.com (111th to 85th place) and landwatch.com (103rd to 92nd place). Portals that left the top 100 included cyberhomes.com (89th to 103rd place) and homesdatabase.com (91st to 110th place).

29.01 percent of all visits to the online ‘Business and Finance – Real Estate’ industry went to the top 10 websites. 40.07 percent went to the top 20 websites and 68.29 percent went to the top 100 websites.

The average visit duration for visits to the online ‘Business and Finance – Real Estate’ industry was 10 minutes, 17 seconds – a minimal decrease from last months average visit duration of 10 minutes, 52 seconds.

Annoying thing about Hitwise is they allow service portals like service magic to distort results from listings portals
